Permanent Magnets

Permanent magnets are objects made from a material that is magnetized, which creates its own persistent magnetic field. There are several types of industrial permanent magnets including Ceramic, Alnico, Samarium Cobalt, Neodymium Iron Boron, injection molded, and flexible magnets. Magnetic Hold specializes in distributing Rare Earth magnets, Alnico magnets, and Ceramic magnets for a variety of industries including oil and gas, food, milling, pharmaceutical, and medical.

These magnets can be both anisotropic and isotropic. Anisotropic grades are oriented in the manufacturing direction and must be magnetized in the direction of orientation. Isotropic grades are not oriented and can be magnetized in any direction.

PERMANENT MAGNET SHAPES

Magnetic Hold develops permanent magnets in different shapes depending on the application and material. Some of the most common shapes for permanent magnets include:

  • Arc
  • Bar
  • Rod
  • Disc
  • Horseshoe
  • Channel
  • Block
  • Ring
  • Sphere
  • Cylinders
  • Plugs

APPLICATIONS OF PERMANENT MAGNETS

Permanent magnets are used in a variety of ways from windshield wipers to televisions. Applications of permanent magnets can be categorized by major groups including:

  • Motors
  • Generators
  • Sensors
  • Transducers
  • Mechanical devices
  • Magnetic field and imaging systems
  • Latches

Magnetic Hold offers custom, made-to-order magnetic latches. These latches are great for applications that require closing mechanisms. Some of the most common areas to use magnetic latches are cabinets, doors, furniture, and much more.
